Position Description

The Medical Chart Reviewer is responsible for examination of medical records to determine what is done and see if it can be done better. Incumbent is responsible for adherence to clinical protocols, patient adherence with medication regimens, provider compliance with coding and documentation requirements. This person will have an Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, certifications in Medical Billing & Coding and/or 4+ years of auditing experience within the healthcare field.
Essential Functions
• Responsible for reviewing medical records, computer and billing information, and reconciling for accurate and consistent data and documentation.
• Recommends modifications or additions to existing office procedures to enhance revenue and collection.
• Responsible for external auditing of Physician and Clinical Staff’s medical record documentation.
• Provides a resource for clinical questions by Business and Clinical Staff, other departments and patients while dealing with confidential information of a critical nature on a daily basis.
• Educates and trains office and clinical departments on appropriate charting and documentation for all services.
• Demonstrates knowledge of coding and abstracting, billing, payment and reimbursement procedures, as well as all applicable regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field
• Medical Billing & Coding Certifications preferred
• Minimum 4 years of auditing experience in the healthcare field.
• Requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care services, and medical record chart documentation.
• Proficient in computer skills.

Working Conditions:
• Work in multiple offices in the Indianapolis, IN area with multiple departments/functions working as an external auditor to achieve state company goals.
• 75% travel within the State of Ohio
