Common Dental Problems

Most common dental problems can be avoided through proper brushing, flossing and overall hygiene. However, if the following do arise, you need to see an ImmediaDent dentist as soon as possible.

Toothache: Normal, healthy teeth should not be sensitive to heat, cold, sweets or chewing.

You should see an ImmediaDent dentist to determine whether there is recession or something more extensive, such as a cavity or a problem requiring more advanced dental treatment.

Fractured tooth: The fracture can be a minor one or more severe with a fracture into the enamel or dentin. (The dentin is the part of the tooth beneath the enamel and the tissue covering the root.)

You should have the tooth assessed by an ImmediaDent dentist.

Lost filling: The loss of a filling can be painful and could lead to further decay or fracture of the tooth. It should be replaced as soon as possible at an ImmediaDent office.

Lost crown or bridge: Try to reposition the crown or bridge, if possible.

Sometimes using over-the-counter, temporary tooth cement can secure the tooth in place. Then, get to an ImmediaDent dentist right away.

Chipped or broken veneers: Veneers can chip off due to impact or become lose. You may be able to reposition them temporarily, but an ImmediaDent dentist will have to repair, replace or reaffix them.

Broken denture or partial denture: Gather all the pieces of the denture and take them to an ImmediaDent dentist for repair. Do not try to reassemble the dentures yourself and do not fix them with model, craft or Super Glue.

Dentures and partials are sometimes easily repairable in one to two days at a dental laboratory. Some repairs even can be done on the spot.
